I actually wait a little while to get some of the things (clothes, mostly) that we need for back to school. Prices seem to go down as the season goes on…also I make sure my little guy feels comfortable in the clothes & shoes we buy. Otherwise it will be money wasted!

I try not to wait too late because then I can’t find the sizes I need. I love Internet shopping as well especially when I can find extra coupons and free shipping. I clip plenty of coupons when I’m shopping in stores. Love tax free day but I have to catch main items early. I also iron all their clothes in the weekend for that week of school.

What’s trending now are the hot neon colors and I love them all. You can pair these with some of your more neutral items to bring in a nice splash of color. Doing this keeps it cool, because what’s trending today may be out tomorrow. Target has it all affordable, trending and fashionable.

My back to school style tips: If your school does uniforms, make sure you try on the clothes, don’t just go by sizes, Get comfy sneakers for the kids that match their school colors, Target always has cozy warm sweaters for a great price and stock up on your socks and underwear with Targets amazing prices as well. :)

  45. Betty Dennis — August 30, 2013 @ 1:44 am Reply

limit the purchase of clothing for the start of school to just a couple outfits. Our school always starts with a half day Thurs and then a full day on Fri leading into Labor Day weekend. The next week is short because of Labor day so it isn’t until the 3rd week that the kids have a full 5 day week. Plenty of time to work in Clearance sales; by then your kids will know what they really want to wear.

  46. Oanh H. — August 30, 2013 @ 6:17 am Reply

Always buy bigger when in doubt of fit, account for shrinkage in fabric when you wash it! Esp in denim! You can always bling up your plain white tee w/a little embellishment from the craft store and switching up shoelaces can make what’s old seem new again!

Tips: Wear comfy clothes/shoes if you can, look for sales, layer when the weather starts to get cool (stay warm outside but won’t burn up once inside school), and make sure you remember that clothes tend to shrink after the first wash/dry!

For back to school, start with some great denim and always a pair of Khaki’s, then you can pair a lot of different shirts and tops with these. Change the look by using different accessories, belts, bangles, pendents, earrings and hair pieces. And you have to have a variety of great shoes in sandles, boots, sneakers, and nice casual. Also everyone needs a couple of dress outfits for special events.
