Festival People en Español Brings Mega-Spectacle of Latino Entertainment to San Antonio This Weekend

Trying to figure out what to do for Labor Day Weekend? If you’re in Texas, how about checking out the huge line-up of Latino celebrities that will be performing at Festival People En Español presented by Target? People En Español, the top-selling Hispanic magazine in the U.S., will host their annual Festival in San Antonio on Saturday, August 31st and Sunday, September 1st. In its second year, Festival People En Español will include an array of fun, interactive activities for the whole family.


During the day, the festival will feature FREE daytime events at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center with celebrities like Mario Lopez, Maite Perroni, Angelica Maria, and Jencarlos Canela among many others. On Saturday and Sunday evening, ticketed concert performances will be held at the Alamodome with world-renowned recording artists such as Gloria Estefan, Alejandro Fernandez, Bobby Pulido, Jencarlos Canela, Demi Lovato, Chris Perez Project, Frankie J and Wisin Y Yandel.

Target, presenting sponsor for Festival People en Español, will feature “Aqui Cabemos Todo” (“We All Fit Here”). The daytime activation will include a larger-than-life Target shopping basket with style, food, hair and beauty stations. During the day, guests can experience style showcases, cooking demonstrations and hair lessons from top industry experts, including Rodner Figueroa (Univision talent and Target’s style expert), Chef George Duran (creator of IMUSA cookware and host of TLC’s Ultimate Cake Off),Chef Johnny Hernandez (local San Antonio chef) Lucio Luciano (renowned hair stylist), and Mariela Bagnato (celebrity make-up artist).

This year’s celebration will also include a variety of community events that are geared toward supporting education for Hispanic students in the San Antonio area. Disney Channel star Adam Irigoyen, HBO Latino boxer Sergio Martinez, and Olympic medal-winning boxer and HBO Latino’s Habla Women participant Marlen Esparza will all make appearances to show their support for this important cause.

Talking about education, one of Saturday’s highlights is the  “Latinos in Higher Education: Staying in School and Achieving Success” panel that is being hosted by award-winning journalist Soledad O’Brien. Confirmed panel participants include: Congressman Joaquin Castro, Pamela Silva-Conde, co-anchor of Univision News’ Primer Impacto and Benita Veliz, DreamAct activist. The session will take place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on Saturday, August 31st at 2 pm (CST).


And, did we mention that several of our Latina Mom Bloggers network members and friends will be there? They’ll be attending various day and evening events throughout the Festival. Local bloggers and social media influencers that will be in attendance include: Hott Mama in the City¿Qué Means What?,  Web City Girls who will be reporting from the event as official entertainment bloggers, as well as our team from Hispanicize Event who have partnered with People en Español for a local Hispanicize HX event on Friday evening with local Latino influencers that will include  cool concert giveaways. We can’t wait!
